Grants ranging between $30,000 and $50,000 to USA nonprofit organizations for programs that improve healthcare delivery to adults with developmental disabilities. An LOI must be submitted prior to a full application. Preference may be given to organizations in the San Francisco Bay Area. Proposals must describe an explicit, identifiable need.

WITH Foundation was created to provide financial support to organizations that promote the establishment of comprehensive healthcare for adults with developmental disabilities that is designed to address their unique and fundamental needs. All applications should complement this mission and demonstrate how they will accomplish this overarching goal.

Programs should improve delivery of healthcare to adult customers with developmental disabilities and include at least one of the following:

  • Improve health practitioner competency throughout education and/or training programs
  • Address the current inadequate reimbursement system
  • Advance formal care coordination including the utilization of trained support personnel/caregivers
  • Increase public awareness regarding the inadequacies of developmentally disabled care in order to advance systemic change
  • National efforts in digital health that support designers and developers to include the perspectives/experiences of the IDD community within the design process, in order to create better technology for all
  • Social policy research
  • Identify and overcome barriers to high-quality healthcare access.
  • General operating support is only considered for applicants that have previously utilized project funding.

While projects are of more interest to us, general operating expenses would be considered if the program is compelling and there is a sound plan to increase financial independence in the future.

The WITH Foundation has three grant cycles per year, two open grant cycles open to all eligible applicants and one Request For Proposal that is presented to the UCEDD/LEND network. The open grant cycles begin March 1 and November 1 of each year and the RFP opens July 1.

Applying during the open grant cycle is a two-tiered procedure. In order to save prospective applicants the time and effort involved with the preparation of a formal grant application, a letter of interest (LOI) is required. If an LOI is of interest, applicants will be invited to submit a full proposal. Even if an LOI is not a fit, each submission will be acknowledged.

Staff is available to help applicants better understand the funding guidelines and discuss project ideas. Especially for large grants requests, prior discussion with staff is encouraged.

Important Dates This Cycle:
- LOI Submission Deadline: December 6, 2019, by 5:00 PM PT
- Notification of Status of LOI/Invitation to Submit Full Proposal: by December 31, 2019
- Full Proposal Submission Deadline: January 31, 2020, by 11:59 PM PT
