Grants to Arkansas nonprofit arts organizations to maintain organizational operations. Applicants must submit a letter of intent prior to submitting a full application. Funding is intended for general operating support as well as to assist with educational arts programming and artist residencies.

Grant Categories:

  • MAP General Operating Support grants may be spent only on non-programmatic, administrative expenses. It may not be used for artistic or technical staff or for contracted administrative or artistic costs.  
  • MAP Arts in Education (AIE) grants are awarded for the purpose of placing professional artists either in residencies at specific school sites or in conjunction with other community-based nonprofit organizations.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

The program funds established not-for-profit local arts agencies or single-discipline organizations with a three-year budget average equal to or greater than $1 million.

Ineligible:

Funds may not be used for artistic or technical staff, or for contracted administrative or artistic costs.

Funding for organizations is not available for:
- Deficits or start-up costs for new organizations
- Contingency funds
- Contributions and donations to other organizations or individuals
- Building renovations or capital expenditures for facilities
- Entertainment expenses, including busses for field trips, tickets to performances, or refreshments
- Tuition for academic study or any form of scholarship or student financial aid
- Faulty salaries, and additionally, staff salaries in Arts in Education grants
- Lobbying expenses
- Interest and other financial costs

Timeline:
- December 2, 2022: Deadline for Letter of Intent for new or returning FY24 General Operating Support and Major Arts Partners applications
- January 20, 2023: Deadline for FY24 General Operating Support and Major Arts Partners GOS Grant applications.
- Panel review: March 2-3, 2023

It is recommended that applicants speak with the appropriate grant program manager before submitting any Arkansas Arts Council grant application.

Applicants must have a UEI number and be registered with SAM.gov.
