Request a Grant Writer

Grant of up to $3,000 to an Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Texas, or New Mexico hospital library to encourage hospital administrators and staff to make use of library resources and services. Possible projects include public relations activities, social media outreach, special events, and other activities that promote the role libraries can play in disseminating health information.

Projects can include but are not limited to:

  • Working with a public relations staff or firm to develop an educational campaign which can include posters, flyers, brochures, etc., to promote library services in the institution or community
  • Using social media to highlight library services or resources that align with administrative goals
  • Holding a special event that advertises new or unique library services such as scholarly research support, evidence-based practice, and health information literacy
  • Promoting the role libraries can play relating to the implementation of electronic health records or knowledge management initiatives

Funding will cover (these are examples only and are not meant to be all-inclusive): Consultants, equipment, software, supplies, travel and reproduction.

Additional Eligibility Criteria:

Hospital library network members in the NNLM SCR (Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas) are eligible to apply. Only hospital libraries staffed with an information professional will be considered for this award. Network membership is free and open to institutions providing health information.

Food and furniture costs are not allowed.

Promotional items are not allowable. Promotional items include, but are not limited to: clothing and commemorative items such as pens, mugs/cups, folders/folios, lanyards, and conference bags that are sometimes provided to visitors, employees, grantees, or conference attendees. Typically, items or tokens to be given to individuals are considered personal gifts for which appropriated funds may not be expended.

The deadline to apply is Sunday, March 1, 2020, 5:00 PM.

Funding will be processed on a cost reimbursement basis.

IDC is allowable. The institution’s negotiated rate for other sponsored activities should be used. If your institution does not have a negotiated rate a maximum of 10% can be used for IDC.
