Grants of up to $3,000 to Arkansas, New Mexico, Louisiana, Texas, and Oklahoma public library staff to attend health information seminars at a professional development conference. Funding is intended to educate library staff on how to provide public access to authoritative health information.

This award is intended to cover the costs of the Public Library Association (PLA) Conference such as registration fees and travel expenses (airfare, hotel, per diem, etc.).

The All of Us Community Engagement PLA Professional Development Award is providing funding for public library staff to attend the Public Library Association Conference in Nashville, TN on February 25 – 29, 2020. 

Priority will be given to libraries that support access to health information and meet the NIH Underrepresented in Biomedical Research criteria (document available in the "Supporting Documents" field below).

NNLM aims to improve health literacy and consumer access to high-quality health information in communities throughout the United States, specifically by working with public libraries and other organizations. The mission of the All of Us Research Program is to speed up health research and medical breakthroughs by recruiting one million people to help researchers understand how health can be improved with individualized prevention, treatment, and care plans.

Eligibility:
-Network members in the South Central Region (Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas) are eligible to apply.
-Network membership is free. To apply for membership, click here: http://nnlm.gov/scr/services/member.html.
-Network member institutions are eligible for multiple awards in the same grant year.
-Individuals who work at a public library within the NNLM South Central Region (Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas) and are affiliated with an NNLM SCR Network member institution are eligible to apply. Network membership is free and open to institutions interested in providing health information. To apply for membership: http://nnlm.gov/scr/services/member.html.
-Agree to attend health-related programs (NNLM SCR Rachel Tims will email recipients a list of health-related programs)
-Agree to attend the NNLM and All of Us programs (if applicable)
-Agree to visit the NNLM exhibit booth (if applicable)

Indirect costs are not allowed.
