In-kind grants of technology resources to Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Texas, and New Mexico public libraries to increase access to consumer health and wellness information in underserved communities. Funding is intended to help libraries offer and develop programs that will utilize and increase access to reliable health information.

The NNLM All of Us Consumer Health Information Kiosk is a technology award for a pre-configured kiosk programmed with evidence-based consumer health and wellness resources to be installed in public libraries throughout the South Central Region (SCR).

The purpose of this award is to enable organizations to develop and offer programs that will increase access to and use of authoritative health information resources.

The NNLM All of Us Consumer Health Information Kiosk award supports the mission of the NNLM All of Us Community Engagement Network to:

  • Help public libraries support the health information needs in their communities by providing National Library of Medicine and other quality health education resources to enable individuals to make informed decisions about their health.
  • Increase public and participant awareness and understanding of the NIH All of Us National Program using approved health literacy topics, programs, and materials in support of public libraries providing outreach to populations that meet the NIH Underrepresented in Biomedical Research (UBR) criteria as defined by the NIH All of Us Research Program.

Priority will be given to libraries that support access to health information and meet the NIH Underrepresented in Biomedical Research criteria (see the Supporting Documents section below for the criteria).

A pre-configured kiosk programmed with evidence-based consumer health and wellness resources will be installed in the public library.

The National Network of Libraries of Medicine is responsible for maintaining the Consumer Health Information Kiosk website and KioskPro application licensing for the duration of the funding period.

Term of Contract:

Funding Period: Monday, September 30, 2019 to Thursday, April 30, 2020.

Eligibility:
- Public libraries which are network members of the South Central Region (Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas) are eligible to apply. Network membership is free and open to institutions interested in providing health information. To apply for membership: http://nnlm.gov/scr/services/member.html
- Serve a population which falls under the NIH Underrepresented in Biomedical Research (UBR) criteria as defined by the NIH All of Us Research Program
- Agree to raise awareness of the NIH All of Us Research Program by distributing information provided to the library at no cost

Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis based on kiosk availability. Continuous reviews will take place for this award.
