Grant Description

Opportunity for USA adults and middle and high school students to participate in a competition to recognize contributions to the community. The winning individual and student will receive funds to support their continued efforts to improve the lives of others. Eligible nominees are either adults or current middle school or high school students.

Pilot Pen is once again looking for true Overachievers—adults and students who go above and beyond to make their communities and the world better for all. Whether it’s an individual going above and beyond their 9-to-5 job to improve their community, a student making a difference outside their classroom or another noble effort, Pilot wants to hear about it and give these Overachievers the recognition they deserve.

Grants will be awarded to outstanding overachievers who go above and beyond to improve the lives of others.

The 2022 G2 Overachievers Grant will be awarded by Pilot Pen to one exceptional individual who goes beyond their everyday jobs and responsibilities to give back to their community and improve the lives of others. The Contest is intended to recognize individuals who have overcome challenges to achieve extraordinary success beyond their typical workday obligations with the goal of improving the lives of others (“Overachievers”).

The G2 Overachievers Student Grant will be awarded by Pilot Pen in recognition of an outstanding student who rises beyond the level of their everyday studies and utilizes their learnings to positively impact the world around them. The Contest is intended to recognize students who are changing the world, their school or community through their selfless determination of giving back in a unique and impactful way (“Overachievers”). The actions of these Overachievers extend beyond the classroom and their extracurricular activities and make the world a better place.

Additional Criteria for Eligibility

G2 Overachievers Grant:

Eligibility of Participant: Participants must be legal residents of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia that have reached the age of majority in his or her state of residence at the time of submitting a nomination. Participant must nominate someone with whom the Participant is personally acquainted, and Participant must have Nominee’s permission to submit the nomination.

Eligibility of Nominee: To be nominated in this Contest, the Nominee must be a legal resident of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia, have reached the age of majority in Nominee’s state of residence at the time of entry. The Nominee must also be employed full-time (i.e. at least forty (40) hours per week) and must maintain full-time employment from the date of nomination to the date the Grand Prize is announced. As the purpose of this contest is to recognize individuals who have overcome challenges to achieve extraordinary success beyond their typical workday obligations with the goal of improving the lives of others, the Nominee’s extraordinary success must be achieved through endeavors that are entirely separate and distinct from the Nominee’s full-time employment duties. The nominee’s endeavors must be separate from any pre-existing charity unless the nominee helped found the charity. The Nominee cannot be a prior Grand Prize Winner of any contest previously conducted by the Contest Entities. The Nominee cannot already be a recipient of more than fifty thousand dollars ($50,000) in grants or scholarships from the Contest Entities or any other source. Nominee must agree to be bound by the terms and conditions of these Official Rules. The same Nominee may be nominated by more than one Participant.

G2 Overachievers Student Grant:

Eligibility of Participant: Participants must be legal residents of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia that have reached the age of majority in his or her state of residence at the time of submitting a nomination. Participant must nominate someone with whom the Participant is personally acquainted, and Participant must have Nominee's permission to submit the nomination and must have the necessary consent of Nominee’s parent or legal guardian to disclose Nominee’s personally identifiable information and student data.

Eligibility of Nominee: To be nominated in this Contest, the Nominee must be a legal resident of the fifty (50) United States or the District of Columbia, currently attend middle or high school, and between the ages of 13 through 19 years of age. The Nominee may turn 20 years of age after nomination and still be eligible for the contest. The Nominee must be on the honor roll at his/her school according to their school’s performance grading system. Preference will be given to Nominees who have not received grants or scholarships in excess of fifty thousand dollars ($50,000). Preference will be given to Nominees whose overachieving endeavors and initiatives are not part of an existing organization (example: Key Club). Nominee must agree to be bound by the terms and conditions of these Official Rules. The same Nominee may be nominated by more than one Participant. For minors, Nominees must obtain the written consent of the parent or legal guardian of the Nominee to participate in the Contest, release personally identifiable information and submit student data of the Nominee.

Pre-Application Information

The 2022 G2 Overachievers Grants submission periods are:
- $100,000 G2 Overachievers Grant: July 1, 2022 – December 15, 2022 at 11:59 p.m.. Mailed Submissions must be postmarked by December 15th, 2022 and received by Contest Entities on or before December 31st,2022.
- $15,000 G2 Overachievers Student Grant: July 1, 2022 – December 15, 2022
- Judging Period: December 16, 2022 – April 30, 2023
- Awarding: On or before June 30, 2023

Nominees will be notified during the Judging Period if they have been selected as a Contest Finalist. Contest Finalists must submit all additional materials as outlined. Contest Entities will review the additional materials submitted by the Contest Finalists and select Grand Prize Finalists from the Contest Finalists. Contest Finalists may or may not be notified if they have been selected as Grand Prize Finalists at the discretion of Contest Entities. All entry and nomination materials of the Grand Prize Finalists will be submitted to judges, who will select one (1) Grand Prize Winner from the Grand Prize Finalists.

Participants may nominate themselves as a Nominee; however, each Participant may submit only one (1) nomination.

Number of Grants

For each opportunity: Five (5) Grand Prize Finalists; One (1) Grand Prize Winner.

Estimated Size of Grant

G2 Overachievers Grant: The twenty (20) Contest Finalists not selected as the Grand Prize Winner (which includes the remaining four (4) Grand Prize Finalists) will receive a G2 Overachiever Kit (ARV $100). The Grand Prize will be a grant in the amount of one hundred thousand dollars ($100,000).

G2 Overachievers Student Grant: The Grand Prize will be a grant in the amount of twelve thousand five hundred dollars ($12,500) awarded to a single Overachiever to enable him or her to continue and expand upon the success for which he or she is being recognized. Sponsor will also award two thousand five hundred ($2,500) to the Grand Prize Winner’s school to help their community educator overachievers, too. If the school declines the award, Pilot Pen will retain the two thousand five hundred ($2,500) school prize.

Term of Contract

Grand Prize Winners agree to participate in followup events with Contest Entities through December 31, 2023.
